A Computational Approach to Identifying Engineering Design Problems

چکیده
Abstract Identifying new problems and providing solutions are necessary tasks for design engineers at early-stage product development. A problem fosters innovative inventive solutions. Hence, it is expected that engineering pedagogy practice should equally focus on problem-exploring (EDPE)—a process of identifying or coming up with a need the design, problem-solving (EDPS)—a developing to given problem. However, studies suggest EDPE scarcely practiced attention in academia industry, unlike EDPS. The aim this paper investigate any information relating its scarce industry. This explore how emerging technologies could support process. Natural models phenomena explain investigated, including “rational” “garbage can” models, associated challenges identified. computational framework mimics natural presented. based Markovian model technologies, machine learning. case study conducted sample size 43 participants drawn worldwide from community result shows first-of-its-kind presented supports both novice experienced EDPE.

Fragment-based Binding Efficiency Indices in Bioactive Molecular Design: A Computational Approach to BACE-1 Inhibitors
One of the most important targets in Alzheimer disease is Beta site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme-1 (BACE-1). It is a membrane associated protein and is one of the main enzymes responsible for amyloid β (Aβ) production. Up to now, a considerable number of peptidic and non-peptidic inhibitors of BACE-1 have been developed. Recently, small molecule BACE-1 inhibitors have attracted the...

متن کاملA computational approach to stability problems
A polytope in R is said to be stable on a facet if and only if the perpendicular to that facet through the center of gravity meets the facet itself. One may consider the stability of a body with respect to an arbitrary "center of gravity on the interior of the body [1,3,6], or one may take the center of gravity to be determined by the shape of the body itself. Most typically, the center of grav...

DFA (Design for Assembly) is important in that it potentially can reduce the estimated 15-70% of manufacturing cost that is attributable to assembly. Besides the reduction in cost, DFA promises additional benefits in increased quality, increased reliability, and shorter manufacturing time. While there has been considerable interest in DFA, the research that has been reported in this area tends ...

The positive fractional and cone fractional continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems are addressed. Sufficient conditions for the reachability of positive and cone fractional continuous-time linear systems are given. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity and asymptotic stability of the continuous-time linear systems are established. The realization problem for positive ...
